Why most men prefer a secondary school leaver to a university graduate

There has been a lot of controversy over the type of lady who would make a better wife.
Some people believe marrying a lady who after secondary school get into business or apprenticeship is better compared to a lady who thrives to finish her university education.
Well, society, family, religious upbringing have their own influence over the kind of woman a lady will become. But before I would go into this controversial issue I would like to remind my readers that most African countries including Nigeria, practice a patriarchal system of governing giving the husband some power over the wife.
Below are the reasons why men prefer a secondary school leaver to a graduate:

1. Socialization/ civilization: School is no doubt an agent of socialization and the higher institution is believed to have grant most ladies an exposure wider than that of the secondary school. It is believed that ladies because of this socialization engage in a behavioural act which could affect their cultural values.
The university in one way or the other has opened the eyes of most ladies and they now believe in gender equity.  Don't be surprised a lady could give her husband time table for food, sex and even cleaning of the house going against culture.
Many ladies usually dump their boyfriends as soon as they get admitted into the university because they now have a social view or perspective to as what an ideal marriage should be.
It is believed that most ladies who are betrothed to a man in her village will definitely return home without the mind of marrying that same man
Most men are scared of this but won't say.

2. Cost of living:  Apart from the fact some men are stingy, men believe a lady who is a university graduate has a higher taste compared to the other. They believe ladies of this category are unnecessarily expensive and as no one knows what tomorrow holds, they tend to be scared that this lady might flee one day if they are unable to meet her standards.
It is believed that most rich men, mostly marry ladies of high standards to meet the taste of the societal view about them and not because they are actually certain of enjoying the privilege of marriage.

3. Fear of intimidation: Men are born naturally with ego. There two things that usually make a man drop his ego. One is fear and the other is love.
Most of the time a man could drop his ego to get the love of his life. But do you know what? It is believed that a lady who is a university graduate tends to have multiple folds of her ego yet to be unleashed.  Men naturally have that fear of being intimidated and will approach a lady of the moderate standards before a lady with much higher standards. This will prevent him from being molested and will also increase the chance of getting himself a lady without much stress.

4. Fear of child mal-upbringing: Just imagine getting a wife who is a lawyer and anytime you have issues she drags you to court, or a woman who is a nurse and have to be on night duties or a woman who is a banker that has to go very early to work and return home very late at night or a politician who is always out for meetings and campaigns, for sure, very few men could withstand that. That's why you see most of this category of couples have family issues and constantly visit a counsellor. Men also want to be pampered but a wife who isn't always available will definitely have no time for the "tiny-winy" play.
Contrary to the belief that women are the lovers of children, men love their children and that's why they want a woman who is ever ready to take care of them.

5.Fear of not being in control: Being a university graduate gives a lady a psychosocial autonomy and at the same time the chance to earn a particular amount of money.  Nowadays love alone is not enough to put a man in control. He also needs money to meet this demand. Its believed that once a woman starts earning the same or more than her husband she starts giving orders. No man wants to take the order and even if he has to, definitely not from his wife. This fear is part of why men stay away from a university graduate.

Well, despite all these factors, many still believe that a secondary school lever has a lot to learn and might not be fit for the position of a wife to them.
Having a graduate as a wife, grant you a lot of advantages ranging from planning of the family to help you grow your business, she knows how best to table issues and also make ways for several developments that could help the family run well.
Well, in my own opinion I think the best answer to this is to cut your coat according to your sizes and don't bite more than what you can chew.

Well said.
I succumb to all you write. I equally wants to add that some secondary school girls are very difficult to handle, this can be as a result of the fact that their level of exposure compared to university graduate is totally incomparable. Men especially older men, have plans for their family and the only person they feel can help them achieve those goals is their partner hence, they go for university graduate.
