7reasons men marry just a woman instead of many.
According to Christianity, a man is to be married to a woman but despite this, we still see many Christian men who choose to marry more than a wife.
In Islam, a man is permitted to marry more than one but less than five if he is certain he can be just among them.
Despite this privilege, some Muslim men still hold on to just a single woman.
Men are mostly polygamous in nature but there are certain factors preventing him from answering the call to nature.
Reasons why men choose to stay with a single woman include:
1. Economic reasons: Women are naturally inexpensive but artificially expensive. The cost of taking care of a woman is enough to take care of two men. Most men marry in regards to their income and once he fears that he wouldn't be able to meet up to this demands, he settles for less.
2. Religious reasons: Even if a Christian wish to marry more than a wife the fear of going against his belief will prevent him from doing so. And for a Muslim man who fears that he might not be just and fair to each of his wives will definitely stay away from polygamy.
3. Society: society has its ways of shaping human reasoning. Many men fear societal intimidation and because of this, they tend to act like they are satisfied with one wife that they had. Take for instance a man who gives birth to five children and is struggling to care for them, even if he wants to take in a new wife, the community will certainly point fingers at him.
4. Health reasons: Not all men have the ability to cater for a larger family. It's only a healthy man that could think of taking care of more than one woman.
Like the common say; one woman one trouble, two women two problems. A man who is unhealthy could shorten his lifespan if decides to add to more of his troubles.
5. Mother influence: Many women had faced crises relating to polygamy. So they tend to warn their sons not to engage in polygamy. And they do everything possible to prevent him from marrying as much as he wishes.
6. Peer group: Women doesn't like their man moving with a friend who has more than a wife. They always see something bad about this friend. The main reason is that they know a man can be influenced and can decide to take in a new wife.
They say; birds of a feather flock. And they also say; if you cannot change them you join them. This word join is the word women would likely not want to hear.
7. Overzealous wife: A wife who is overzealous will never allow her man to marry any other women. Naturally, some women are strong and tough, making their husbands never want to awake her troubles.
Reminding me of a story about a gathering where 10 men were called to the podium. Men that are sure they control their homes are asked to come out, funny enough, only a man came out. He was asked on how was he able to control his home, he said; it was my wife that ask me to come out.
If you ever see man discourage polygamy, there must be a reason just try to ask.
