The Christianity and Islamic belief to as what will happen to man after death.(similarities and differences)
Death is the termination of worldly life and the beginning of the afterlife. But the two major similar religion in the world has a different view to as a what happens to a man after death.
I will like to compare the Islamic belief about life after death to that of the Christian faith.
1. Life in the grave;
-Islam believes that after death, the soul is returned to the body, and immediately after burial, a new life begins for the deceased. Two angels will appear to the deceased asking him a series of questions and someone who lives his life serving and obeying God will be protected from the torment of the grave while anyone who disobeys God's order will be punished.
-Do the Christians believe in life in the grave? There is no written evidence that this life in the grave. This means that Christian believes that after death is judgment.
Judgment;
Believing in an afterlife is one of the six articles of faith in Islam. The deceased is in an intermediary state, until the great resurrection. At the time of resurrection, it will be revealed whether they go to Heaven or Hell.
This means Muslims believe that there is a great day of resurrection where every soul will meet with his lord and be judged according to his deeds.
-In Christianity, although physical death still happens, those who believe in Christ and live a good life are believed to earn eternal life in Heaven.
Many Christians believe that after death, they will be taken into the presence of God and they will be judged for the deeds they have done or failed to do during their lifetime.
Some Christians believe that this judgment will happen when they die. Others believe that there will be a Day of Judgement at the end of time( like the Muslims) when everybody will be judged at the same time. Some believe that judgment will happen in two stages: an initial personal judgment when you die, followed by the definitive judgment at the end of time.
Heaven and Hell;
Heaven is another name for paradise and it is a place where people with good deeds end up.
Hell refers to a place ace of punishment where the fire will burn human flesh and there will be no scar, where the pain will be raised to the power of 10,000(according to Islam)
-Islam was clear about what to expect in hell and what to expect in paradise. Those who do good deeds will leave eternally, where there will be no sorrow nor pain. There will be a marriage of righteous men and women, rivers of honey and cheese, peace and happiness.
According to Islam belief, no true Muslim will remain in hell forever, though some will taste the suffering of hell due to their wrongdoing. But Allah will later forgive them and bring them back to paradise.
In Christianity, there is a belief that those who accept Jesus as savior or and personal savior alone will enter paradise. Also, Christ has died for their sins, and that once you accept Christ and live in his way, you are saved from other sins and will not be judged.
Christians believe that they will go to heaven to continue to worship God together with the angels and nothing like marriage will take place as in the case of the Muslims.
In Christianity hell has traditionally been depicted as a place of eternal fire that symbolizes pain and suffering and those who fail to accept Jesus as their Lord and personal savior will be condemned to hell.
Purgatory
The Roman Catholic Church teaches that after death there is a state of Purgatory. This is a place where some people who have sinned are purified in a 'cleansing fire', after which they are accepted into this. This means that without this cleansing, humans won't be allowed to see God.
In summary, the two faith share the belief of heaven and hell, they share the belief that good deed and obedience to God will take humans to heaven but where there is a conflict of interest is from the fact that the Muslims believe that you have to obey God, pronounce prophet Mohammed as a prophet then add good deeds before you can be admitted to paradise. While the Christians believe that you have to pronounce Jesus as your Lord and personal savior for you to be saved eternally.
